South Shore Digest Long Island's South Shore, curated weekly

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-09-15

Effective September 15, 2026

The short version: we collect what we need to send you the Thursday issue and run our referral program, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who we are

South Shore Digest is published by AF Mello Solutions Inc, a New York corporation doing business as South Shore Digest, in Suffolk County, New York. This policy covers southshoredigest.com and every subdomain we run, including the join, weekend, guides, and Local Card sites. Questions go to support@southshoredigest.com.

What we collect

How we collect it

Through the signup forms our email platform hosts, through our join, signup, and referral pages, through the Local Card site, and through any email you send us.

Our email platform records opens and clicks on the issues we send, which is how we know whether a section is working. Our join page, and only that page, runs the Meta Pixel so we can tell whether an ad brought someone in. The rest of our pages do not run it.

Why we collect it

To send you the issue. To keep the list clean and confirm a real person signed up. To give referral credit and send rewards. To understand which sections readers actually read. To reply when you write to us. To spot fraud and abuse. To meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it. We share it only with the companies that run pieces of this operation for us, and only so they can do that work:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if the business is ever sold or transferred.

Cookies and pixels

Our host sets the small functional cookies it needs to serve a page and handle a form. The Meta Pixel runs on our join page only, as described above, and our email platform uses tracking pixels and link redirects to count opens and clicks.

To limit ad tracking generally: use the opt-out tools at aboutads.info/choices, adjust your ad settings inside Meta, and set your browser to block third-party cookies. Turning images off in your email app stops open tracking there.

Your choices

Every issue has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately.

To see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, email support@southshoredigest.com from the address you subscribed with. We handle these ourselves, always within 30 days. You do not need a legal reason.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for what a publisher should do with one, so we do not respond to it. Apart from the advertising measurement on our join page described above, we do not let third parties collect personal information about your activity across other websites through our site.

How long we keep things

We keep your list information for as long as you are subscribed. Referral records and survey answers are kept for 24 months after you unsubscribe, so we can settle any reward question and understand why people leave. Click logs are deleted after 90 days.

Children

South Shore Digest is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child sent us something, email support@southshoredigest.com and we will remove it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect what we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee it. If personal information is ever exposed, we will notify affected people as New York law requires.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top and post the new version here.
