Effective September 15, 2026
Tell a neighbor about the Thursday issue, get credit when they subscribe. That is the whole idea. Here are the rules that keep it fair.
The program is run by AF Mello Solutions Inc, doing business as South Shore Digest.
You need to be an active South Shore Digest subscriber, at least 18 years old, and living in the United States. Each subscriber gets one referral code, tied to the email address you subscribed with. One person, one code, however many addresses you have.
A referral counts when someone new signs up through your link or code and confirms a real, working email address they have not used with us before.
These do not count:
If a referred subscriber unsubscribes or bounces within 30 days, we may reverse that credit. Milestones you already reached and rewards we already sent are not clawed back.
1 referral: a thank-you by name in Thursday's issue. First name and town, and only if you tell us yes when we ask. 3 referrals: The Regulars. Our guide to the spots South Shore locals actually keep going back to, sent to you as a PDF.
10 referrals: a feature in the newsletter. We write you into an issue, with your say so on what we print.
25 referrals: dinner for two, on us. A $100 gift card to a South Shore restaurant you pick, from the places that sell gift cards.
Each milestone is earned once. Passing 25 does not start the ladder over.
Once we verify the referrals, we send the reward by email within 14 days, to the address on your subscription. Watch your promotions folder.
Rewards are for you. They are not transferable, cannot be sold or traded, and have no cash value. If a reward is unavailable when it is time to send it, we will substitute something of equal value and tell you what changed. The gift card is issued by the restaurant, and their own gift card rules apply to how it is used.
Any tax on a reward is yours to handle.
We like naming the neighbors who help this thing grow. We will only use your first name and your town, and only after you tell us yes. No last names, no photos, no addresses, and never without asking. Say no and nothing changes about your rewards.
There is no drawing, no entry fee, no luck involved. You reach a milestone, you get the reward tied to it. Nothing here is a lottery, a raffle, or a game of chance.
We may change the milestones, swap a reward, pause the program, or end it. If we do, we will post the change here and honor every reward already earned under the old rules. Milestones you have not reached yet may change.
If referrals look manufactured, we may void them, hold a reward while we look into it, remove you from the program, or cancel your subscription. We decide these in good faith, and if you think we got it wrong, write to us and we will take another look.
Your referral code, your referral counts, and who signed up through you are covered by our privacy policy. If we send you a gift card, we share what the gift card vendor needs to issue it, and nothing more.
